Secure chat with AI and real people
📱 What is Friends?
Friends is an iOS app where you chat with real people (friends, family, groups) and with an AI assistant in one place. All conversations are in a single list: tap a person or the AI to open a chat. You can send text and voice messages, reply to specific messages, and use the built-in AI to get reply suggestions right inside any chat.
You must register with your email and a verification code to use the app. Your data (friends list, messages) is stored on our servers so you can restore it after reinstalling; we do not share your information with third parties for advertising.
🔒 Secure & confidential chat
Friends is a secure chat tool. Your conversations are confidential: we keep them on our infrastructure so the app works reliably and your history can be restored, but we do not sell or share your data. Registration is required so that only you can access your account.
Planned: We are developing end-to-end encryption so that message content is encrypted on your device and only you and the recipient can read it. Once that is in place, we will not be able to extract or read what you write.
✨ What the app does
- Email sign-in — You enter your email, receive a one-time code, and sign in. No password.
- Chat with people — Text messages and voice messages. Reply to a specific message so the thread is clear.
- Groups — Create a group, add several contacts, and chat with everyone in one thread.
- Direct AI chat — On the main screen, tap “AI Assistant” to open a full chat with the AI. You choose the model and can set a custom prompt (how the AI should behave).
- AI inside every chat — In any conversation with a person, open the message menu (⋮) on a message and choose “AI assistant”. The AI reads the recent dialogue, summarizes the last message, and suggests 3 short reply phrases you can send with one tap. You can pick a style (neutral, friendly, formal) and run it again if you want new suggestions.
- Grammar before send — Before your text is sent, it is automatically corrected for punctuation and capitals so your messages look clean.
- Text-to-speech (TTS) — You can listen to AI replies and to incoming text messages read aloud.
- Backup — Your friends list and chat history are synced to your account and restored when you reinstall the app and sign in again.
🧠 AI assistants
You can talk to the AI in two ways: in the direct AI chat (main screen → “AI Assistant”) and inside any chat via the message menu → “AI assistant” (summary + 3 reply suggestions).
How to choose the AI model and prompt
Tap the gear icon on the main screen to open Settings. There you see the list of AI models: select one to use for both the direct AI chat and the in-chat AI assistant. Next to each model there is a gear: tap it to write a custom prompt (e.g. “You are a helpful tutor. Answer briefly.”). That prompt defines how the AI behaves for that model.
How the AI helps in a chat
In a conversation with a friend or group, tap the ⋮ menu on any message and choose “AI assistant”. A sheet opens: the AI analyzes the last part of the chat, shows a short summary of what the other person said, and suggests 3 reply phrases. You pick a tone (neutral, friendly, formal), tap one of the phrases to send it as your next message, or ask for new suggestions. No need to leave the chat.

📖 How to use the app
Adding a friend
On the main screen, tap the + button. Choose Personal, then pick a contact from your phone or enter a name and phone number. The app uses the number to create a shared chat between you and that person.
Creating a group
Tap + → switch to Group. Enter the group name, then select contacts (or add by name and number). Tap Done to create the group. Everyone in the group sees the same chat.
Chatting
Tap a friend or group to open the chat. Type and send, or hold the microphone to send a voice message. To reply to a specific message, open the message menu (⋮) → Reply. To get AI reply suggestions, open the menu on any message → AI assistant.
Direct AI chat
On the main screen, tap the AI Assistant card at the top. You’ll see the model name next to it (the one you selected in Settings). Chat as with a person; you can also use TTS to hear the AI’s replies.
🛡️ Privacy
We do not sell or share your data with third parties for advertising. Your account, friends, and messages are stored on our servers so the app and backup work. Registration is required. We are working on end-to-end encryption so that in the future we will not be able to read the content of your chats.
